It is also available with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, which reaches a power of up to 278 horsepower @ 6,000 RPM and a torque of 265 pounds @ 4,600 RPM, with a 6-speed transmission.
Toyota Safety Sense ™ P standard

Get everyone’s attention
The exterior of the Toyota Tacoma 2019 has a new face with a bolder grille and a lateral profile defined by strong but subtle lines.
Compact in size, huge in power and safety
It does not matter if your Tacoma is entering your house or in reverse in the field, with the security camera of reverse installed in the door of the box you will be able to see what happens.
Each model offers 4WD available with an electronically controlled transfer case, which provides power to the front and rear wheels when you need it. The rear differential with available electronic lock takes control in difficult conditions when driving with low traction. Drive confident!
Quality of management
Toyota engineers have created a solid powertrain that does not allow lateral movements to be experienced when maneuvering, as is customary in vehicles of this segment. It also does not miss the tendency to go head-on in strong brakings, so your sense of weight balance and suspension will generate great driving confidence.
A couple of weeks ago, Toyota launched the Tacoma 2020 model . Although his sister, the Sequoia TRD Pro, stole the show, one can not leave Tacoma aside. After all, it is the best-selling medium-sized pickup currently in the United States. The Tacoma 2020 does not bring many changes to the table; mechanically or aesthetically. Do you think there is enough to differentiate it from the 2019 model and keep up with the increasing competition? Tacoma has been around for almost 24 years. The Tacoma replaced the fifth-generation Hilux in the local market, also known in the United States as the Toyota Pickup, in 1995, and was touted as a successor to the Hilux in almost every respect. Despite the competition, Tacoma has managed to maintain the crown for 14 consecutive years. This was a 24% increase over the 2017 sales figures. Toyota’s biggest rival is the Chevy Colorado. Chevy sold a total of 168,334 copies between GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado. Basically, Toyota sold almost 75,000 more units than GM could combine with its two medium-sized trucks, demonstrating its dominance in the mid-sized truck market. Tacoma 2020 seems fresh, but you can not hide the fact that it went through the operating room to look younger. Apart from the changes in the front grille and the headlights, there is not much to talk about; but these changes are enough to trigger the memory of the brand in each client. Six versions are offered in total (SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-road, Limited and TRD Pro), and each of them has something new to offer.
The settings for the SR and SR5 entry level remain the same. The huge grill of the Tacoma dominates the front and has bits of chrome that surround it. All the other decorations receive a new grid of the same size but with a different design. It is flanked by headlights that slide towards the fenders. The Limited model is offered with new LED headlights, while the TRD Sport comes with new LED fog lights. The TRD Pro brings new sequential LED headlights and daytime running lights. The profile is where the Tacoma looks better. The Tacoma is a typical truck with a drawer that hangs beyond the rear wheels. The Tacoma comes with flared wheel arches, while there are details that accentuate the rugged appearance of the Tacoma. The steep climb at the end of the Tacoma window in the rear is a trademark of Toyota and is seen in other models as well. The TRD Sport comes with chrome tail light inserts and a new LED bed lamp. The TRD Pro, on the other hand, receives black inserts in the taillights. It sounds like a tedious finish, but it helps distinguish the models from each other. The Tacoma TRD Pro, like other vehicles in the TRD Pro line, can be purchased in a new and exclusive army green color. This completes the color palette that already includes shades such as Super White, Midnight Black Metallic and Magnetic Gray Metallic.
Be it the driving position, or the ease of use of the technology, neither of the two aspects has been the strength of Tacoma. However, Toyota has decided to address both problems in the 2020 model. The pickup used to come with manually adjustable four-way seats up to the 2019 model, which limited drivers to finding a perfect driving position. But this time, Toyota has offered a driver’s seat with 10-way power adjustment as standard equipment from the SR5 version onwards. The lower seats were never liked by potential buyers, and it is good to see that the manufacturer rectifies this point. Upon arriving at the second ‘defect’, Toyota finally realized that not offering simple things like Apple CarPlay in its line of models, simply disappoints potential buyers. Therefore, for the 2020 model, Toyota has offered the Tacoma with a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen information and entertainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In fact, Toyota went the extra mile and is now offering Amazon Alexa in the new model. The Tacoma comes with a keyless ignition system. As mentioned above, an LED lamp was also added in the drawer to increase visibility during the night while loading and unloading. The TRD Sport, TRD Pro and Limited models benefit from an enclosed vision camera system. The TRD Off-Road and the TRD Pro have a camera that points below the vehicle to help the driver avoid possible obstacles at the road level.
All models now come with the Toyota Safety Sense P, which includes:
Lane Departure Warning
High Light Auto
Radar Cruise Control
The Tacoma 2020 does not receive any change under the hood. It still drives the same 2.7-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that contains 159 horsepower and 180 foot-pounds of torque. There is also a 3.5-liter V6 unit that produces 278 horsepower and 265 foot-pounds of torque. Maybe Toyota should have raised those power figures to stay in line with the competition. The Colorado and the Ranger offer up to 369 foot-pounds and 310 foot-pounds of torque, respectively. These things are very important when driving on asphalt surfaces. Both engines are coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission as standard, but the larger V6 can also be coupled to a six-speed manual. The TRD Sport exclusively sends power to the rear wheels, while the TRD Pro only comes with a four-wheel drive system. The Tacomas V6 come standard with a towing kit that includes a hitch, engine oil cooler, power steering cooler, automatic transmission fluid cooler and 130 amp alternator. For its part, the Tacoma TRD Pro comes with a set of own changes. Now it is mounted on a set of new 16-inch rings that are approximately 4 pounds lighter than the last set. The Fox shock absorbers and rear springs have been redesigned by Toyota Racing Development to accommodate lighter wheels. They are 2.5-inch internal by-pass dampers that improve ride comfort and off-road performance. This needs a mention because any change in tuning could make a big difference in the pickup. Although there is still no official confirmation, the TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro settings will be transferred to the entire AWD system:
Rear differential with button lock
control system Hill descent control
Five modes of off-road traction control
The Tacoma is an important product for Toyota in the US market. Although the Tacoma released the segment, lately faces strong competition. The Colorado has been closing the gap steadily, and there are other manufacturers that have also decided to take part of the cake that Toyota has been enjoying for more than a decade.
